Matt King

Global Markets Strategist at Citi
Matt King
Matt King is Global Markets Strategist at Citi. Prior to this role, Matt was Citi’s Global Head of Credit Strategy. Before joining Citi in 2003, he was Head of European Credit Strategy at JPMorgan. Matt has built a career around advising investors, issuers, and policymakers on the big-picture themes driving markets, whatever they may be.    In 2000, he coined the credit-equity “clock”—still a cornerstone of many investors’ asset allocation processes. In 2008, his piece ‘Are the Brokers Broken?’ predicted the fall of Lehman Brothers and showed how its sources of repo funding were drying up. Since the financial crisis, he has focused increasingly on global debt dynamics and on the distortions created by central banks. He has also written extensively on market liquidity. Matt has an MA in Social and Political Sciences from Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
