Author Talk: Niall Ferguson, "Kissinger"

Tuesday, May 6, 2025
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Beverly Hilton - Dayton

Sir Niall Ferguson is one of the world’s leading public intellectuals. Raised in Scotland and now based at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, he is the author of 16 books—many of which cover a mix of history and finance—and a frequent commentator on current events. His authoritative biography of Henry Kissinger was published in 2015, and he is currently working on the second volume, emphasizing Kissinger’s service in the Nixon and Ford administrations, including the groundbreaking opening to the People’s Republic of China. A provocative—and often contrarian—writer, Ferguson stakes out positions that are grounded in his deep knowledge of history and his classical liberal philosophy. The discussion will include an examination of parallels and differences between Nixon and Trump. Moderating will be Matt Rees, a former White House speechwriter who frequently reviews books for the Wall Street Journal.

As with all Global Conference public sessions, registration is not required to attend an Author Talk, but seating is limited. Seats will be open to the first 50 attendees. We recommend Conference attendees add any Author Talks of interest to your agenda. If you cannot attend the Author Talk or are solely interested in the book signing portion, we encourage you to come to the Global Conference on-site bookstore managed by Barnes & Noble for the final 20 minutes of the scheduled hour.

Books featured in the Author Talks and Book Signings are available for purchase at the on-site bookstore.
