Following the clamor for more diversity in film and television, and after movements like #metoo, the entertainment industry is finally developing more opportunities for women both behind and in front of the camera. For example, in 2021 for the first time in Oscars history, two women were nominated for best director. This was a progressive leap for the entertainment industry, given that only seven women have ever received this nomination and there has been just one winner. With growing demand for female executives to oversee independent features, major blockbuster franchises, and ratings-pulling marquee TV series, it's time to look at what Hollywood is doing to ensure that women's voices are heard and their stories are seen. This session brings together the top power players in Hollywood to discuss how the industry is evolving, opening the door for the next generation of women in entertainment, and what they've experienced along the way.
